Nepra Approves Rs1.11 per Unit Fuel Cost Adjustment for August

Nepra-KE-1

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a Rs1.1086 per unit fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for electricity consumed in August, which will be recovered from eligible consumers through their October 2026 electricity bills.

The adjustment is lower than the Rs1.7267 per unit initially sought by the Central Power Purchasing Agency-Guarantee (CPPA-G).

According to Nepra, the approved adjustment reflects the difference between the actual fuel cost of Rs8.2084 per unit and the reference fuel cost of Rs7.0998 per unit.

The FCA will apply to consumers of all categories served by ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDISCOs) and K-Electric, with certain exemptions.

The adjustment will not apply to lifeline consumers, electric-vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs. It will, however, also be applicable to electricity consumed under the incremental consumption package.

The additional charge will be reflected in October 2026 bills based on electricity consumed during August.

Nepra said that if bills are issued before the notification of the FCA decision, the adjustment may be incorporated into the following month’s billing cycle.

The latest adjustment means eligible consumers will pay an additional Rs1.1086 for each unit of electricity consumed during August, subject to the applicable billing arrangements.
